Bucks students become the first in the country to gain the Live Event Safety Passport.
The Production Services Association ran the first ever Events Safety Passport at a UK university on 1st May at Buckinghamshire New University.
The passport is designed to fulfil the needs of the Event Industry by creating an Industry focussed qualification in Health & Safety for all those working in the event sector.
As part of Buckinghamshire New University’s ongoing commitment to delivering Industry focused education students from a range of courses including Music & Live Events and Crowd Safety Management attended the one day course and gained further valuable insight into the most pressing issues to do with health & safety currently facing the industry. The qualification will build upon the knowledge students have already gained on their degree courses and will enable them to bring to future employers a practical understanding of health & safety within the event industry.
Chris Kemp Dean at Buckinghamshire New University said “we are delighted to be the first University in the country to run this qualification. It is important for the industry that future employees are well versed in issues of health & safety. He added that over the years we have developed a highly successful relationship with the PSA and this is a further development in that partnership.
Andy Lenthall General Manager of the PSA commented “the Safety Passport is just part of our efforts to develop an industry-wide understanding of the principles of health and safety and a safe working culture; where better to initiate that understanding than with people who are just about to embark on a career in live events”
