Certificate in Protective Security – The University is an awarding body endorsed by the SIA and has eight companies who can offer the licensing qualification through the University. Completing the course leading to the license qualification will also provide 15 credits towards the Protective Security Foundation Degree.
*Certificate in Event & Matchday Stewarding – This qualification is offered by the Centre through its 1st For Sport Qualification status. The programme replaces the FSQ. A must for all Football Stewards.
Stewards Training Day – A one day course at venues around the country targeted at those employing stewards and volunteers at festivals. This concentrates on Legal Obligations, the Site map, Communications and Crowd Safety.
*Certificate in Event Planning – A thirty Hour Level 2 Course offered through ASET and taken by industry professionals which provides a good understanding of the nature of the event industry.
Events and the Law – A one day course targeted at all levels of personal working at concerts and other events. The programme identifies both the basic legal requirements for the staging of events
*subject to centre status | | Pit Safety Training Course – This one day course is for staff working as part of a Pit Safety Team and is designed to be delivered by companies. It provides information about all aspects of working in a pit and has both practical and theoretical assessments. Success on this course can attract 20 HE credits.
Crowd Safety Control Room Operations – This course will provide the knowledge and skills required to work in a control room set up to deal with crowd safety. It deals with all forms of control room communication, including liaising with external agencies, such as the Police and emergency services.
Crowd Ingress and Egress Control – This course is designed for staff working at entrances and exits at events. It covers all normal activities in this role, as well as dealing with incidents and emergencies. A significant focus of this course is crowd safety and the efficient movement of people into and out of event venues.
Pedestrian and Vehicle Control - This course provides students with the knowledge and skills they need for the safe and efficient movement of pedestrians and vehicles. This is an important aspect of crowd and event safety and it is important to have competent people in this role.
Introduction to Crowd Safety Supervision – This four day introductory course is for staff working in firstline managerial roles. It provides a foundation of learning to progress on to higher level qualifications and covers managing people, change, finance and operations. It also introduces the students to significant aspects of law that impact on the events industry. |
