The Centre acts as a conduit through which students from across the University can gain access to the crowd management, security, sports, events and music industries. Many graduates have secured employment in these industries in part by promoting the work in which they were involved whilst working for the Centre at events across Europe. All of those assisting with research and projects are acknowledged in the Centre’s reports and publications.
Many of the Centre’s accredited training providers and partners are a source of hourly paid lecturers at the University. All of these people have taken the University’s Certificate in Work Based Learning in Higher Education, which qualifies them to become members of staff working on the Foundation Degree programmes. The FDs benefit from the input of academics and those in industry, which adds to the reputation and credibility of the courses. | | The Faculty of Enterprise and Innovation is introducing a range of new technologies to be used by those on Foundation Degrees to enhance their learning possibilities. These include an online Crowd Management and Security library and a digital recording system, to enable downloads of podcasts from our Blackboard virtual learning environment. This means that students can access the programmes from anywhere in the world and attend workshops without being physically present. For example, students in Australia can download workshop lectures and seminars remotely, which saves them the air fare and accommodation in the UK. The Faculty is also working with Sisco on a computer interface to enable those studying remotely to enter classroom situations without leaving their home. |
